Iftar Ki Dua also known as Roza Kholne Ki Dua is recited at the time of breaking the fast during Ramadan. It is a moment of gratitude and spiritual fulfillment, seeking Allah’s blessings and acceptance of the fast.
In Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي لَكَ صُمْتُ وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَعَلَىٰ رِزْقِكَ أَفْطَرْتُ
In English:
“O Allah! I fasted for You, I believe in You, I trust in You and with the sustenance given by You, I break my fast.”
In Urdu:
“اے اللہ! میں نے تیرے لیے روزہ رکھا، تجھ پر ایمان لایا، تجھ پر بھروسہ کیا اور تیرے دیے ہوئے رزق سے افطار کیا۔”
“ऐ अल्लाह! मैंने तेरे लिए रोज़ा रखा, तुझ पर ईमान लाया, तुझ पर भरोसा किया और तेरे दिए हुए रिज़्क़ से इफ़्तार किया।”
Marks the completion of the fast, showing gratitude to Allah.
Fulfills a Sunnah, as the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) encouraged making dua at Iftar.
Invokes blessings and mercy, making the fast more spiritually rewarding.
Brings acceptance of supplications, as duas at Iftar are highly accepted by Allah.
Prepare for Iftar by arranging dates and water, as per Sunnah.
Raise hands in supplication before breaking the fast.
Recite the Iftar Dua with sincerity.
Break the fast with a date or water and thank Allah for His blessings.
Pray for forgiveness, guidance and acceptance of your fast.
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: “The thirst is gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is certain, if Allah wills.”

Another Hadith states: “The fasting person has two moments of joy: one when he breaks his fast, and the other when he meets his Lord.”
